Why didn’t I do this sooner? I LOVE it!!! I can watch games while I’m at work, record shows I would miss, and it’s so easy to use. I’m never going back to cable.
YouTube TV App Reviews
Chromecast keeps losing connection to app
If I watch anything for more than 10 minutes I need to close the app (swipe card from switcher) and restart it then cast it again before it will pause or scrub in either direction. This is completely unacceptable.
Love the DVR (when it works)
PRO: True to Googles way, things are very easy to learn and use in this app. The DVR has the competition beat and the channel lineup is really great. Also, If you steam through your Apple TV, you can "skip" through commercials in 10 second bursts. CON: Also true to Googles way, streaming often freezes during commercials and you have to shutdown/restart the app. Its time consuming and frustrating. The inconsistency in performance that is so "consistent" with everything Google is what pushed me from years with Android to the iOS platform and that pattern has held true with YouTube TV being inconsistent. If you "cast" through a ChromeCast, you cannot "skip" through commercials and the app freezes on both the ChromeCast and Apple TV platforms.
Great app! Live streaming TV at your fingertips!
This app is very user friendly. Live streaming TV, with the ability to record unlimited amounts of shows (saves for up to 9 months), all while not having to pay hundreds of dollars for cable. $35/month no contract. I use it to watch sports, news and The Walking Dead. I love the fact that I can watch on multiple devices and I’m looking forward to receiving my complimentary Chromecast after making my first payment. I already know this app and service will be a great value! I know YouTube TV just came out this year, but I’m still blown away at how awesome this is... The only thing this is missing is more channels (i.e. Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, AT&T Sportsnet.)
Pls add to 49201
I cant use it but it looks good Im just waiting for them to add it to Michigan
Worth it for $$
For $30-something dollars, it is worth trying out for at least one month. There are so many features I love. Let me list a few: 1. If you hook up to a chromecast & stream to your tv you can continue to use other apps on your phone without interruption - even other video streaming apps like YouTube. Plus they sent me a free Chromecast just for signing up for a trial and paying for my first month. 2. We’re not a tv-family. I have not had cable since 2010, which was when I still lived with my parents. So this app offers more than enough options to keep me satisfied. 3. The price is low enough that I don’t feel like I’m wasting money if I don’t watch tv for a few days. 4. If I decide that I’m not using it enough, I can just cancel or pause my subscription for a bit. No two-year contract here.
No Nfl
I bought it so i can watch local channels something my xfinfity doesn’t let me, but i came to find out that i wasnt able to watch my my favorite team play so whats the point i don’t really watch local channels and thats why i hace cable and i can watch it on the go but i do watch local channels when my teams are playing but it turns out i cant watch them so its useless
Fix live events
Good app so far but fix live events if it goes too long I can’t watch the rest. It’s happening right now for he World Series game 5.
Wait until you try to cancel...
There are too few channels we watch to add $480.00 a year. Tried to cancel 10 minutes in and we were road blocked. A cryptic message appears instructing us to see Apple’s instructions for cancellation. No instructions to read, no link to those instructions, nothing. I didn’t see anything even remotely describing having to contact a 3rd party to cancel nor the need to hunt down instructions at an unknown location on the sign up page. “Cancel anytime” is a bait-and-switch come-on and patently false. Be warned. Unless you intend to sign up long term at the beginning, don’t sign up at all. It’s not worth the headache. Wait until the inevitable class action suit settles first.
Too expensive
I might consider if 9.99 a month
Live sports is good on it.
Watching sports on YouTube tv is enjoyable. I have had no issues where the audio doesn’t match the video (ruining a a catch or scoring play). Pleasantly surprised how well this app works for this. Good job.
Love It!!!!!
I just want to use it with Ruku and be able to put it up on my smart tv like I can with regular YouTube. Or make a donegal or app that I can Also when at home project it to my smart tv.
Painful at times
The basic problem with YouTube TV, the display requires a phone or tablet (or computer) operate. Yet it feels like it wasn’t designed for phone, showing only a 1+ full huge logo for a show on the home page. They could easily show six or ten items, but no. Using a device for TV control also means if you have a secured device with a pin code (and if you don’t have a pin code, WHY NOT?), every time you want to simply jump forward to past a commercial you need to: unlock your phone, make sure the app is open, and then finally jumped forward button. Compare this to using a normal cable DVR where you pick up the remote and you push the jump forward button. Via HDMI CEC the Chromecast, can be told to pause or resume, but jump forward (or fast forward or rewind) just isn’t there.
Too expensive
$1.99 a month I can do... not $34.99?
Canceled Cable
I really dont use cable but I used Youtube TV to replace cable for my parents. Its stellar so far. I wish they had CNN, but I guess they couldnt include everything for such a cheap price point.
One wish
I wish it included a membership to YouTube Red. I’m not aware of what Google’s profit margins are on YouTube TV but I feel like for $35/month it probably should. I would definitely keep the service every month if it did.
YouTube TV
I. Quality Setting: A. Wish there was an overall quality setting &/or per user profile quality setting. (i.e. like Netflix) 1. We turn down the quality setting to use less of our metered data. 2. Can only change quality setting (program by program) when using wifi or cellular (cellular didn’t work, but seems to have been recently fixed). 3. Unable to change quality setting when casting to chromecast, so can’t use chromecast. 4. When watching “On Demand” programs, the quality setting automatically changes/resets when commercials come on and for each commercial (i.e. 2 back-to-back commercials). II. On Demand Playback: A. Video playback issues when returning to program from commercials. 1. Video/Audio playback freezes or video playback stops (black screen) while audio playback continues. a) Update: Turned off Auto-Lock in display settings and did not have the video playback issues. III. Channels: A. Wish the following channels were available: History, A&E, TBS, TNT IV. DVR: A. Would like option to record only new episodes. V. Closed Captioning: A. Closed Captioning doesn’t pass through to TV/Monitor when using Lightning-to-HDMI adapter. Overall we like it.
Needs a lot of work
I’m unable to get past the “Find your home area” screen on the iPad Pro. Tech support couldn’t find the solution. A ticket was opened 3 weeks ago and still no fix. It works on my iPhone but has a terrible interface. I was hoping the iPad would be better though have yet to find out.
I love this
As someone without cable but only wants the main sports channels, this is perfect. It has all the big channels for sports and the other top ones for tv shows and movies. I’m on the free trial right now but for $35/month, I’m seriously considering keeping it.
Had high hopes, not worth the money
Pros: you get news channels and live feed shows, easier searching than netflix, unlimited show recording. Cons: $35 per month- 3 times the price of Hulu, netflix, or movie channel apps, no apple tv app, must "airplay" or "mirror" off phone or laptop, continues to disconnect randomly from airplay, app wont load on new IOS phone update, commercials and ads on shows and movies, unlike other streaming services movies are edited for TV, cannot record individual episodes, entire series will record until you unselect the recording option. Save your money or buy three other app types for the same price instead. Really, news is the only major thing you will miss, your phone or computer should be sufficient for that.
