Agree with earlier review on this same topic. Need flexibility to record on new episodes and badly need Apple TV app to be able to maximize and optimize use of YouTubeTV rather than just mirroring the screen which seems to “hang” quite bit!
YouTube TV App Reviews
Why ads if u pay $30
I have to watch a 5 min ad in the middle of a movie after I pay $30? It says ad 1/6. Watch that ad then your 2/6..... 6 consecutive ads in the middle of a movie really? This app is garbage dont waste your money
It’s aight
Like the title says...It’s aight
Choppy and terrible for SNF
Wouldnt cast or play from my phone. What a waste.
Love the app
It is flawless. I have a firetv that is my main source of tv viewing. Unfortunately I could not make it cast to it. Go I dusted off my chrome cast first generation and it works flawless. I love the channels included. Love that I can record any show without running out off memory. And that the recorded shows at not stored in my phone. With a family of 5 it’s great to have different profiles for everyone. I have experienced freezing and buffering with firetv. But I have not with chrome cast and YouTube tv app.
Please update app for iPhone X Support
Overall app is fine. However, with recent release of the new iPhone X, please release app update to include screen optimization and FaceID capability for the iPhone X. Thank you!
Not ideal for watching sports at 30fps
I subscribed to Youtube TV hoping that I could finally find a good "cable replacement" option for football season. At first, I was optimistic. I was able to watch network TV and cable news with good picture quality. However, the programming quality is not ideal for watching sports. Any fast action or rapid movement on screen appears very choppy. I learned that this is because Youtube TV broadcasts at 30 fps (frames per second), which makes watching sports programming uncomfortable. With Youtube TV, here is a noticeable lag or choppiness. I have since switched to Playstation Vue, which is 60 fps and provides a similar experience to cable or satellite tv. With that said, Youtube TV has a far better user interface, so I would consider switching back if they offer a 60 fps option in the future.
Really good with some things to improve
I feel like this is the best option out there, but there are some things I’d like to see that would really make this shine. 1) No commercials. Im paying $35/mo to watch commercials?! Wait...that’s called cable TV. Or maybe charge me an extra $5/mo to get rid of commercials like Hulu does. 2) Offline viewing. This is critical for when youre on a plane or have bad cell signal like on the train into Manhattan. 3) Please add HGTV. 4) When recording a show that airs more than one time per day only record the time slot I choose (e.g. ESPN Sports Center) 5) I like movies so it would be cool to see all movies coming on across all channels instead of having to look at each specific channel to see what is coming. Even better would be an option to automatically record all movies. Get those things and you get 5 stars.
Best Live TV, but fixes needed
There needs to be the ability to watch on the tv without having to cast from your phone...also a lot of disconnections when ads come on for dvr shows. Not very fluid. But the live tv portion is amazing. Cut cable and loving you tube tv...just waiting on those updates.
The moon sit is over
This is the app I’ve been waiting for from day one of apps
Want renew.
Can’t even watch live football on mobile. Says watch in regular tv.
Cast button glitch (still not working)
Just downloaded the latest updated app Nov 4. Cast button is still missing no matter how many times I close and relaunch the app. Please fix this. Its the only way I know of, besides using my laptop, to get YouTube tv to play on the tv which kinda seems like the whole point.
Does exactly what I want!!!
I don’t watch TV as much as I used to, and my wife showed me out last Comcast bill. It had gotten out of control. She asked me if I had heard of YouTube TV. It does exactly what I need, giving me a mix of local stations and the most watched cable stations. Bye-bye Comcast high-priced TV package; hello YouTube TV!
Needs iPhone X support
Great app, but it needs an update to support the new iPhone X.
Gud
Likey
Nope
Offer me a free week but force me to start a subscription to get it? No way! Ive seen this dog-n-pony show before. You are going to need a certified letter from congress to cancel. Im deleting it.
Smamyers
Could be a game changer but I need to be able to stream on my tv.
Please add iPhone X screen optimization
Please release 1.10.9 so that it incorporates the following: 1. Please optimize the app screen to support the iPhone X. Thank You
Question
Do you have to pay monthly
Awesome concept. Need work
Pros - This is the best idea since sliced bread. Cons - the favorite shows do not show in the initial screen. Wish there was a way to hide shows that I was not interested in
