YouTube TV App Reviews

Huge fan, but some improvements needed

Great alternate to a cable subscription. Options are endless and main networks with feature that allows you to record shows. Having trouble connecting from the YouTubeTV app to my Samsung SmartTV and Amazon FireStick. Able to connect to both using the YouTube app and YouTube Music app, but YouTubeTV doesnt seem to work. If the feature was available, would give it 10/10, no doubt.

This app is terrible

It is slow to respond and if your phone goes into lock mode and you unlock it and try to pause or fast forward it, you cant. Im switching to Hulu.

Overpriced Basic Cable

So, i can’t watch the Spurs because they are on TNT which is not included. I cant watch comedy Central which is the only reason i want cable. And i cant’t watch anything without an onslaught of commercials.....But on the plus side, i can watch endless Frasier and Friends reruns!! The lineup is geared towards garden home seniors, while the technology and pricing is geared towards 17 year olds with mom’s credit card. Thoroughly Disappointed

Great concept, not perfect

I was super excited to download this free trial to watch the World Series. I think this has super great potential. However… In order to watch a show on your TV, you have to screen share from your Apple device. So that means… First, that anytime you want to use Siri to talk to text, your show will end. Next, every time I try to watch a show on-demand and it gets to commercials, it automatically crashes. That makes me have to completely close the app and restart it. Very annoying. Last, if I’m trying to browse the web while I’m watching a show, certain sites will make the show crash as well. I tend to multitask a lot while watching TV, so these are relevant problems for me. If you can handle watching TV without being on your phone and letting your phone do its thing while it broadcasts a show, you should have no issues.

Love it

I need about 4 more channels and I would drop Directv. The online DVR is great! Love the app and Ive had zero issues steaming to chromecasts

No connection to smart TV

No option to connect to smart TV

Best cord cutting service, but..Missing crucial channels.

Best cord cutting app, hands down!! -Needs HGTV, CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Science Channel, & Travel Channel

Getting better with age, only lacking in channels

This has grown a great deal in a short amount of time. Still a ways to go, but its getting there. Unlimited cloud DVR is amazing, only complaint is some programs dont record and default to on demand (forcing you to watch advertisements). I understand this is probably more of a cable network limitation, as opposed to a problem with YouTube TV. Its still missing some essential channels for me including Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, PBS, Discovery but not a total deal breaker. Would love to see all the sports channels removed to be honest. Make sports an add on and give us more variety. For a sports lover this might be awesome, but for a casual, variety viewer, Id love to see less redundant sports channels.

Cutting your cable.

Good but not ready for primetime. Good UI, simple to program DVR, general choice of channel especially local channels are very good, this option goes a long way in cutting dependence on cable Bad-DVR records all available shows of a program you select including old versions shown on rerun channels. Channel lineup is incomplete but hopefully will expand over time. Biggest complaint is the software is buggy. When casting a program from your library using an Apple devise you lose control over stop, fast forward, or rewind after a few attempts. Have contacted support with no known solution.

Cant cancel subscription

Doesnt show up on apple app cant find way to cancel thru google I WANT OUT

Where’s the controls!!

No 4K, I don’t like commercials!! What are commercials doing on an app that I pay for!?! I can’t fast forward tru the commercials. $30 per month!!

Terrible Mac Experience

It’s bad enough that you have to use chrome to use Apple TV on Mac, but the resolution is also maxed out at 480p if using an external monitor. Not close to worth $35 a month

Had high hopes, not worth the money

Pros: you get news channels and live feed shows, easier searching than netflix, unlimited show recording. Cons: $35 per month- 3 times the price of Hulu, netflix, or movie channel apps, no apple tv app, must "airplay" or "mirror" off phone or laptop, continues to disconnect randomly from airplay, app wont load on new IOS phone update, commercials and ads on shows and movies, unlike other streaming services movies are edited for TV, cannot record individual episodes, entire series will record until you unselect the recording option. Save your money or buy three other app types for the same price instead. Really, news is the only major thing you will miss, your phone or computer should be sufficient for that. 11/1/17 addition: trying to cancel my membership. Circle of confusion, almost seems purposeful. Still going through the process. Another major issue people dont realize is searching the web for technical issues leads you to empty results. You end up with everything about "normal" Youtube and not Youtube T. Very annoying

Coverage?

When will coverage be nation wide? All cities, all states?

Constant Playback Errors

Every hour or two I lose the ability to watch TV because a playback error pops up on the screen. When this happens there is nothing I can do. Ive tried restarting the device, my phone, uninstalling the app. Nothing works. The brief moments it does work Ive been watching advertisements for it on the baseball playoffs. But now I cant watch game 7 because it crapped out half way through yet again.

Needs work and false advertisement

So I mainly got this to watch the World Series and other sports. I mean why not it’s only 30$/month (I already pay for Red). But they don’t even have the World Series on here. They advertise it during the WS but yet they don’t even have it.

Great service app needs some work

While I admit YouTube tv is young the app is missing some pretty standard features. First is the ability to look at what is airing in the standard TV guide grid. Next there isn’t the ability to delete single episodes of a series you are recording. So when a show isnt really recorded because another goes long it would be nice to be allow to remove it. It would also be nice to see what was recently recorded in a series. Like a news feed for the series. Also once a movie or show is recorded I would like the ability to not record over it the next time the episode airs. Everything else is great!

Infinite warfare

NOW THATS A SUPPLY DROP

In its infancy

If YouTube can keep the subscription price down (and at $40 per month, it’s not cheap), this is the future of tv. Problems: 1. Ads freeze on airplay and reset the show to the beginning. Very annoying. 2. Needs Apple TV native app. 3. Needs more channels.
