I love the app itself and Im very pleased with the channel line up, dvr option and other features. HOWEVER, I have seen numerous other reviews complaining about the same thing and not once has this been specifically addressed. WHY is the connection between the phone app and the chromecast so horrible? Every time I turn on the tv it takes literally 10min for the app to recognize my chromecast. And every time I lock the phone and watch a show and then decide to change channels again it either freezes or just doesnt find the chromecast its been casting to. This is a huge issue and can be potentially a deal breaker. And its def an app issue as I do not experience these problems when streaming Netflix or other things onto my chromecast. Only with YouTube tv does this very unpleasant problem occur. Please tell us why this is and when you finally attempt to get this resolved or at least improved! Thanks

I’ve to restart the app every time I come out of a lock screen on my phone or tablet because the play/pause/fast forward become useless. It shows that these are working on the app but the chromecast/tv will not read the play/pause/fastforward. Google, please fixing this annoying little bug. If Netflix can do it well, it’s not that hard.

The air cast icon on the app keeps disappearing. When I switch from smart tv on my Roku to regular tv and back, I find that I can’t play YouTube TV again. I called once to customer service and the guy told me to uninstall and reinstall which works but then I end up having to do it everyday and each time I watch stuff on the app. This is very annoying! there should be a better and permanent fix for this. I’m not having this problem with the regular YouTube app... the air cast icon is always there, but not on the YouTube TV app ?

Need to able for you to Chromecast it to ur TV. You dont have to hold the phone and u can watch on bigger screen I like it so far I just wish able to Chromecast it to my TV. Please make that available.

I took the week free that they offered. The third day I cancelled it. Took it off my screen. I heard nothing. Then got on app store and it said to cancel you have to get ahold of Apple?

I ditched cable because of the excessive bills. YouTube Tv is a good alternative as you can watch local channels, live sporting events and a nice selection of movies. It’s fairly inexpensive. My biggest gripe is that YouTube TV has been slow to roll out their app to my smart TVs. I have 4 smart TVs in my house. Some are only a year old, and the others are 2 years old (manufactured date). All Samsung or Sony. I don’t understand why there isn’t an app yet directly on the tv. This means I have to purchase a Chromecast device for all of my TVs, which I refuse to do. The point was to eliminate bills, not shuffle my money to another company. I saw a tweet from Google claiming support coming soon for “older” smart TVs, but there really is no information on when that’s going to happen. A month? 3 months? A year?

The service works as expected. Needs lock screen controls when casting.

This is such a money saver. It carries most of the cable channels I like. The only thing I don’t like is having to endure commercials when I DVR.

When it works it is OK but it breaks if you blink! Can the good folks at Alphabet not make a proper AppleTV app, please?

If they had Turner network channels, theyd be pretty close to perfect...

I recommend this to everyone, I only wish they had a few extra channels like Nickelodeon MTV lifetime.

Wow,tons of lockup’s. Can’t even watch Tennis Channel for more than a few minutes before we had to keep restarting the channel. And then, it would reset back to the beginning of the tennis match from 2 hours ago and it would take us 3-5 minutes to finally get caught back up to “live”. This is a horrible “live” experience.

I’m not sure why, but whenever I open this app, and sometimes when the app is not even running, I get the pop up asking for my iCloud password. There is no explanation ever given, not from YouTube TV or from iOS, as to why my password is needed, so I never enter it. YouTube TV works fine with just my Google account when I don’t enter my iCloud password, but it will keep asking for it. When I uninstall YouTube TV the popups go away, when I reinstall the app and open it, first thing it does is show the pop up, even before I login with my Google account. Aside from this terribly annoying issue, which pops up many times a day, no matter what app I’m using, even when I haven’t used YouTube TV in a long time... YouTube TV is almost as good as PS Vue. With PS Vue I can watch shows even when I’m not in my home location (like when I’m traveling through other airport), which is about at parity with traditional cable, where you can watch some live shows and On-demand shows pretty much anywhere. YouTube TV needs to catch up with added conveniences like this.

You can’t choose what shows play next, and it lacks a few other options. Also, I wouldn’t mind a better layout.

App lags real bad! Needs to be updated so it comes in clear at all times and doesnt lag. Super frustrating to pay for something that doesnt work half the time...

Get over yourself google and make the App compatible with the Apple TV. Whatever you do do not purchase YouTube television till they make it compatible Apple TV app. trust me you’re wasting your money trying to sling your iPhone to make it compatible to watch television. At some point you tube television will be available to watch but trust me wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait until they get over themselves and stop competing and make it compatible with an AppleTV.

First, I love the channel selections, the ease of recording shows, and watching recently aired shows. I hate that my phone or tablet are the only options for the remote control. It’s very difficult to teach folks who aren’t tech savvy how to work it, especially older generations. Many times recorded shows will not play with sound. I will sometimes have to reboot the chromecast and YouTube tv app multiple times before it will play a recorded show with the sound. I don’t know it that’s a chromecast issue or YouTube tv issue b/c I only use chromacast for YouTube tv. Like a few other people have complained, the app will lose connection with the chromecast after a while even though the app acts like it is connected. When you try to pause, FF, or rewind nothing will happen until you disconnect and reconnect. Then when that happens it’s difficult to go back to where you wanted to rewind to.

Won’t be worth anything, to me at least, until this app is available on Apple TV. If you watch TV only on your apple device or computer, this is great. If you don’t mind tying up your apple device to airplay through your apple TV, this is great. If you want to be able to watch TV, and continue to use your apple device at the same time, this is lacking. Will be a GREAT way to cut the cable company cord and ridiculous subscription fee’s once this is available on apple TV.

The app is great for the most part. However it does not split screen or PiP in iPad, nor provide background audio in iPhone. So I find the experience to be overall missing.

My family and I made the switch from Fios to YouTubeTV. For the most part we are very happy with the switch. Loved cutting our bill to just internet, and paying $35 for YouTubeTV. The four of us each have our own libraries that we are able to access on the go. The channel choices are limited, but I expect that to change as more people use it. The only thing that I find to be a negative is the connectivity of the remote on the app. It loses connection quite quickly easily. There is no way of knowing when it’s lost connection until you try to use it to pause or rewind your program. If this issue and more channels were added, it would definitely be a five star app.
