YouTube TV App Reviews

The good folks at YouTubeTV wrote me and said that AppleTV app was due “soon” so that is worth 3 stars right there. This app has allowed us to finally cut the cable and stream everything we want to watch as well as use the fantastic DVR capability. Our TiVo is only thought of fondly when the app acts up otherwise we don’t miss it at all.

Tried Sling, Crackle, Netflix and DirectTVnow. Have cancelled all other subscriptions and am sticking with YoutubeTV.

Great app but After casting and disconnecting a few times. Chrome-cast icon disappears and I have to delete and reinstall the app to get the cast icon back. Same on Android app

Love It! Needs work on controls... fast forward/rewind etc. Also needs a timer. Turn off, but next day, it’s still running live.

Had an issue and Google’s was quick to fix it. I like the app I just didn’t use it enough so iCanceled.

I know it’s how YouTube makes money. But there are too many stupid ADs. Like 2or3 would be cool through a 45 minutes TV show.

I do like the service and it would be hard to go back to a different service. That said there are a few things that would make the experience better... - the casting from the library to Apple tv is not good. Many times the commercials cause the casting to stop - when casting to the chrome cast the device can become unresponsive and u have to stop casting and then restart to gain control again. - just really wish they would hurry up with dedicated apps rather then forcing us to cast. If u get a phone call I hope ur not watching a game cuz u will lose the casting til the call is over Those are the big ones but other areas can be improved as well... - I wish when u search for movies to record it would not show you the ones that have been recorded - in the same way there should be an indicator when you have already scheduled something to be recorded rather than having to open it to see if it is set to to record - some shows and movies are on demand. I wish there was something to distinguish between something that is on demand and something you have DVRed - Did I mention the casting feature is very frustrating!?!? - the channel line up is good but it would be nice to have tnt & my wife would love hgtv. That is the only reason we may move to a different service. But walking away from unlimited DVR would be really hard. If they cant figure out the casting thing, the service just isnt worth it. I’m guessing there will be many improvements over the next year, at least I hope there will be!

i watched 5 sets of commercials consecutively. my show wouldn’t load so i kept on refreshing and new commercials would show up but not my tv show.... also if u want to watch a tv show live it sometimes records another show and you have to watch like 10 minutes of it before watching your show.

The interface is good. I just wish TNT, Paramount, HGTV & DIY were available.

I wish networks were easier to access put on that app is a breeze

Need an Apple TV app or it’s useless in the walled garden

Channel schedule should be more user friendly and on the same page. CC randomly is on then off. Can’t find a way to control it. Wish I could add time to live events when I record. Love that I can watch anywhere.

Cannot but without tnt all NBA fans will agree the whole NBA playoffs is on TNT please try to get them.

So many new bugs, and where is the Apple TV app? Might have to switch to Hulu TV live service.

Unable to cast tv on my LG webOS tv. The cast only worked the first time I installed the app. The next day since cannot cast on tv. I can still cast the regular YouTube app video. But youtube tv does not. Lastly no CNN?? Cancelling my subscription due to the above.

I recommend this application ir works as expected

The most feature and content rich service available for the money. Hands down. My roommates and I all share access to the service and each person (+ significant others) are added as "family" members. Everyone has their own log in and ability to record shows without conflict. Its amazing. Thats $35 divided by 6 people who all have their own set up! I have a Chromecast and a Google Home Mini set up, which is useful for controlling the TV. If I know what I want to watch, I can tell the Google Mini the show, movie, or channel to throw on. I can also tell it to pause, rewind, or fast forward. What Im trying to say is that Ive tried other services and nothing even remotely competee from my perspective.

So glad I have this app. I can use it practically everywhere on practically any device! Its super easy to use and I love the DVR functionality. All of it is seamless! Wouldnt let this go for anything!

The frequency with which the app completely loses connectivity to my Chromecast is frustrating, and the reason Ill be canceling YouTube TV. SO sick of having to restart the app just to pause, fast-forward, or change channels. DO BETTER!
