TV on the go is perfect! I record all my shows and view them on my own time. Love it!
YouTube TV App Reviews
Love the DVR
Great service, high price
I’m almost done with my free week of YouTube Tv. I liked the service, but I did the math and $516 a year is too much. And to top it off there isn’t a Apple TV app. Maybe next year if the price comes down and you have a Apple TV app
Can’t DVR all shows. Limited Viewing options.
Great platform but limited options for shows. Heavy on sports options so if sports aren’t for you don’t spend the cash Hulu basic will be a better fit for the cable cutters.
Not worth the cost
Youtube tv has a long way to go before I’ll consider paying $39.99 a month. I know this price is a lot cheaper then all cable/dish companies but if I can not stream on fire stick, watch Monday Night Football on phone app (I don’t know if it has something to do with licensing but regardless), or watch all the channels that YouTube had advertised no matter my location (zip code) then the price is not worth it. Also the original advertised price when I had started the free trial period was $35 a month then after the download it changed to $39.99 I know it is only a $5 difference but it is the principle.
All good except casting
The iOS app pretty much has all the bells and whistles within the bounds of what YouTube TV can do - which, for me and my family, was enough to “cut the cord.” However, when casting, eventually the pause and skip forward/backward features stop working. I have to restart the app and re-connect to my Chromecast device, which is very annoying. I’ve seen this issue on iPhone SE, 7+, and iPad Pro. iOS 10 and 11. Please, please, please fix this annoying casting bug. Only then can you honestly say “Your phone is your remote.”
Love it
Via the chromecast and leveraging google mini home its Fantastic. Now let’s get working on sonos integration. Overall great and only getting better.
Non Responsive At Times
The app is non responsive at times and this can be frustrating. For instance when a program is playing and I choose to touch the pause command the program fails to pause.
Good but has opportunity to improve...
If you have a Smart TV and can get the app on the TV, this works very well. Have no issues with the TV channels (could be more but hopefully soon they will add more). Challenges: the DVR services need more options and clarity. Not clear on if you can delete an episode or turn off the entire show recording. Need option to record only new shows. Not intuitive - need to clarify better. BIG gripe: paying $35 per month should eliminate commercials. There are WAY too many on some shows. Have a lower cost version (say $19.99 per month) loaded up with commercials. Subscribers paying $35 should have none. Big issue. Also, no YouTube TV app available on Apple TV for older generations. Smart TV or new Apple TV mode seem the best way to go here. Avoids airplay issues.
Needs an ...
YouTubeTV needs an app for Kindle Fire, AppleTV and other streaming devices. Chromecast is fine but isn’t great. I don’t WANT to use my phone as a remote — it’s a pain.
Nice and simple, not much missing
This is a great app on my iPhone - really easy to use, and the DVR function is great. I hope the Apple TV version is at least as good. Also, where’s HGTV? My family can’t live without it, so other than the missing Apple TV app it’s the main thing preventing me from going internet-only with my ISP, and using YouTube TV as my only TV service.
VIZIO
Need YouTube TV App on all VIZIO tv’s.
Doesnt Even Work "In My Area"
If this app doesnt even work "In My Area" then why the insane amount of advertising? Why would you roll out an app that only works certain places? Doesnt make sense and thats poor business decision as a whole.
Wayyy toooo many commercials.
Long story short... It’s like I’m investing to watch plenty of unnecessary TV commercials... and some TV.
You Tube App works well
Purchased 4 Apple TVs so I could Airplay the channels. What a mistake! Lost the program when the phone rang...video would freeze at random while sound continued...had to close the app & restart it then cross our fingers and wait. So I bought 4 Chromecasts and they’re like heaven. Contrary to what instructions & phone support say you CAN plug them into your AV receiver’s HDMI input. They work just fine! You Tube TV is the best alternative to cable we could find...all the networks, plenty of sports, and unlimited DVRing.
Only mirrors to my tv once in a while
I have an iPhone 7 and I am able to get mirror my programs only the first time. After that it doesnt recognize my roku or dvd and I have to remove, re-install, and start over.
Once they get MORE channels it we be Epic!
My AT&T tv service is a whooping $197 so I switched to you and love it! I haven’t had ANY connection issues like the others who reviewed YouTube tv. The quality is killing AT&T and the fact that i can change the channel and go back to the previous channel i was watching and still rewind and fast forward amazed me! My only problem is the lack of channels and no Monday night football. But i know if we give it time it will have just about every channel like a cable.
Bugs when airplay
When steaming to Apple TV. If an ad plays it loses connection. If you try and skip 15sec it freezes the video but the audio continues. Still trying to determine if we like the app. They need a dedicated app for the Apple TV.
It’s great but...
I love the app. It’s amazing. But I have a 24 inch Vizio smart tv. And I can cast the original YouTube app on the tv. But I can’t cast YouTube tv from my phone to the tv. Is there any way you can write back to me and tell me if it will be fixed. I would love to be able to watch it on my tv.
Not bad, hope to see improvements
I do like the service and it would be hard to go back to a different service. That said there are a few things that would make the experience better... - casting from the library to apply tv is not good. Many times the commercials cause the casting to stop - when casting to the chrome cast the device can become unresponsive and u have to stop casting and then restart to gain control again. - just really wish they would hurry up with dedicated apps rather then forcing us to cast. If u get a phone call I hope ur not watching a game cuz u will lose the casting til the call I’d over Those are the big ones but other areas can be improved as well... - I wish when u search for movies to record it would not show you the ones that have been recorded - in the same way there should be an indicator when you have already scheduled something to be recorded rather than having to open it to see if it is set to to record - some shows and movies are on demand. I wish there was something to distinguish between something that is on demand and something you have DVRed - Did I mention the casting feature is very frustrating!?!? - the channel line up is good but it would be nice to have tnt & my wife would love hgtv. That is the only reason we may move to a different service. But walking away from unlimited DVR would be really hard. All that said I still like the service and I’m guessing there will be many improvements over the next year, at least I hope there will be!
Still not there
Great app, but the content issue is still a factor. I was excited to see that I could get local channels, but dismayed when I couldn’t watch the Seahawks game today because it was blacked out. Also, the cloud dvr is cool, but a lot of the stations you record on force you to watch commercials even though these are supposed to be recordings. I cancelled my subscription today, just not worth it.
