YouTube TV App Reviews

Good, but room for improvement

Intelligence when it comes to recommendations isn’t that great. Also, could use more channel selections. However, it’s pretty easy to use and the value is good.

Difficult to Cancel

I tried the 7 day free week trial but is really difficult to cancel the membership. Why can’t we just cancel through the app

good?

Good app I like it

Great app

Can you please add the Nickelodeon channel and teen nick channel thanks

App doesn’t work.

At first, the app works great! I just select the program I want to watch, and click the button to cast it on my Smart TV. Then, after turning the TV off, the casting button is gone, and I can no longer mirror my content on my Smart TV with the YouTube TV app; however, this works fine with the standard YouTube app. Please fix this. The only solution I have that works consistently is to delete the app and reinstall it, and I shouldn’t have to wait 5 minuets to watch TV.

Pretty Solid but not $35

I was excited to see it be $35/month, but of course upon checkout I realized it was $45. I think it has to do with my area? Pretty deceiving to be honest, and $45 is pretty steep for this type of service. It’d be a 4-4.5 star app is I was getting it for $30-35/month. It doesn’t have as many server/buffering issues as Hulu, and you can actually fast forward through ads, unlike on Hulu. In fact, that was the primary reason I switched away from Hulu. Also, Hulu has contract issues with certain locations for Fox, so I was unable to watch UFC and World Series, and I cant record any of them either. So yes, this is the better option. I like the design as well.

Not worth it

If you like watching commercials this product is for you. This product is chocked full of ads. Worse than old fashion cable.

Ok but...

I would LOVE to be able to select an option to only record new airings of episodes and not syndicated ones or repeats. I was getting so many repeated airings recorded that I ended up turning those shows off. And then forgetting to watch them live. It’s also frustrating that some shows can be FF through commercials and others can’t (which I assume is due to contract terms - fine). The continuous play feature that YTRed has would be a great addition to this app as well. I sometimes forget that it doesn’t have it and switch out the app to answer a text and the show pauses. These are not BIG issues to me - but things that I think would improve the quality of the experience.

Pay and watch commercials!

Thanks YouTubeTV. You REDEFINED TV. Pay and still watch commercials is the way we did before!!! Right? In 80s or 90s, we watched TV on a CRT screen and always went to grab some snacks or pee during the commercials. Now days, we have Netflix and Amazon prime videos. So we pay, we select, we click play, and we enjoy. We don’t have to watch commercials because we paid! But now, YouTubeTV is redefining TV again. We pay, we select, we click play, and we watch the commercials...just like the way we did before. Why? Because it is YouTube “TV”. It’s just like cable channels. You have to watch every movie with commercials inserted. And they are not like commercials on YouTube, which are only few seconds and you can skip most of them after 5 sec. Commercials on YouTubeTV are really as long as traditional TV. When you are watching a movie, don’t forget you have to watch around 6 mins commercials after 10 mins movie, even you paid. Because it’s a TV. When the hero is saving the world, Denny’s restaurant, Subway, pet foundation, SUBARU, DURACELL, Liberty Mutual are going to join. If you already subscribed, please forget how Netflix and Amazon video work before start your movies. Congratulation, you go back to old school TV generation. Thanks YouTubeTV. Enjoy your commercials!!

Not bad

Not bad but needs some work. Don’t care too much for the advertising but that comes with tv. If you are looking for commercial free this isn’t your app. If you like to watch live tv and record shows this is your app. Not too bad. I’ll keep it for a lil bit. :)

Add Houma Louisiana

Add it in someplace in Louisiana like houma

Please Hurry Up with the Roku App!

I’ve been a Sling customer for quite a while and I’m fairly happy with them but I wanted my local channels so I decided to give this a try. I have test driven DirecTV Now, which is poorly made, often malfunctioning garbage as well as PlayStation Vue which was better than DirecTV but overpriced for what you get. This works very well and has a lot of the functionality I was looking for. It’s going to allow me to dump the CBS service, stop paying for Sling’s DVR and possibly even get rid of Hulu at some point. It has the best potential and is the most user friendly. On the downside, no Roku app is a huge issue. I like Chromecast but it’s not very user friendly to have to use my phone as the remote. I also get more than twice as many channels from Sling for the exact same price and they do work on Roku and every other platform. YouTube TV had the potential to be my sole provider if they can get more channels and be the ultimate solution that cord cutters were looking for. I understand it takes time to build the channel lineup but every day they don’t have basic functionality like Roku integration, they’re missing the opportunity to win new business and probably losing business from people who are frustrated

Poor channels

Poor channels. Can’t watch local football games other sports channels are uninteresting

Streaming TV Service that works

Works great in the iPhone and can easily be played in TV via Chromecast (or Apple TV). With Google Home or the Google Assistant you can use your voice to play, pause, forward or rewind any channel. It’s easy to use and has unlimited DVR space! Your recordings are organized by type and everything is searchable - it is Google after all.

Great app

Why did you not hav a 1 month free trial

New user

I like the app but here are the reason for 3 stars.... -still no YouTube TV app for televisions/Apple TV/amazon fire to stream. Currently using airplay to stream to my TV. -DVR does not give the option of recording new episodes only, so now I get all the re runs saved. -cannot delete episodes on the DVR without deleting the whole show series. -is supposed to be $35 a month but it is actually $40 since you have to go thru the App Store and is a recurring bill via Apple. I tried signing up online and it wouldn’t let me since it says it needs a location thru the app on your phone.

Good App UI / Advert Ridiculousness

I’m day 3 of trial but can say I’m gonna do dish tv or cable. The # of ads served, and that I can’t fast forward they them is exhausting. I’m talking like 6 ads every couple mins and it feels like a GRU torture technique. The UI is good. I like the live screen view icons and what’s ahead. Don’t like that the ahead view is inconsistent - it might show an 830pm start on line 1 then next channel begins at 9pm and you think the show starts at 830. You can set reminders but ya know. I hope the advert density decreases and YouTube succeeds in garnering audiences

Needs work

The app constantly disconnects itself from my chromecast while I am still streaming. I have the newest generation as it was sent to me by YouTube TV. I like the endless DVR possibilities. If chromecast stayed connected I wouldnt have a problem with the app. Streaming quality is excellent, I wish there was less sports options and more channel options. I still heavily rely on Hulu and Netflix for shows not supported by YouTube TV. I also like the multi user access for one billing account.
