Can’t believe I waited so long to make the switch from cable. App and cast options from other apps are an added bonus.
YouTube TV App Reviews
Awesome
Fix Your Connection Issues YouTube
This is such as amazing service but they need to fix their connection issues. I have fiber optic internet and that’s not enough to stream YT TV with a consistent quality on the iPhone app nor the TV app.
Excellent service for on $35 a month
Now I can watch tv through my phone, laptop, and iPad. Despite certain channels I don’t get, at least I can watch my news, sports center, and all my other favorite programs. Hey, this make me want to get rid of Verizon Fios.
SO RIDICULOUS
It doesn’t have any of my local channels and I can’t cancel the stupid service. When I click on cancel in the app it tells me to go to the website and it then doesn’t let me do anything. I am thinking this is a SCAM!
Blurry
It’s blurry on my TV. All my other streamings apps aren’t blurry.
Where is Google Cardboard Support?
We want Google Cardboard VR support. If the regular YouTube app can support turning any YouTube video (including live streams) into a watchable format by a drop-in VR headset, then the YouTube TV app can too.
Overall Great!!!
Little buggy here and there! But love the channel line up! Can we get NHL channel next please!!!
NBA TV?! Thank you!!!
With the addition of NBA TV included at no cost, YouTube TV has become everything I’ve been looking for! Forget DTV Now, Hulu or Sling. This is such a good product at a such a good price point. Only issue I have is with the Apple TV app. It is quite sluggish and heavy (using the newest 4K Apple TV). But anyway! Great stuff!

Excellent, the best streaming app hands down
The only things missing are a control on DVR to only record NEW shows... this would avoid the 50,000,000,000 old episodes of family guy lol.... other than that I hope their subscriber base grows substantially and allows for the two missing content packages to participate (noticeably missing Viacom’s group of vh1, etc and hgtv group) still a fair trade off for $35/$40 you get the best local and cable plus unlimited “dvr” and the menu is very well thought out... heading to return my cable company’s dvr and disconnect today ?
Too many cons
Have been using this for a few months now. This service itself for the most part works well. I use the service mostly on an iPad but I havent heard good things about it when being used on Apple tv either. In a few months the only time I had an issue with the streaming was while watching the SuperBowl. For some reason it kept freezing to the point that watching the game on this service was not an option. The app in NOT intuitive (easy to use and understand) but this doesnt really surprise me because I think a lot of apps developed by Google arent intuitive. Im sure they have smart people working on these things but there is common sense element that is probably missing. The app also does something really strange and annoying. While watching the same channel for a few hours, out of nowhere it will suddenly jump back into a previous program. For example, while watching a program airing at 2pm, it will suddenly go back to the program that aired at 12pm without anyone touching anything. The DVR is very basic. Once you add a show to your library to be recorded, it will record ALL airings of the show. You cannot restrict recordings to a certain channel or exclude reruns. It is advertised as unlimited DVR but nothing has remained in my DVR library that is older than 6 days. The channel lineup is lacking but I assume they are working to add more channels. I most likely will move on to a service that has a more user friendly app and more channels.
Fantastic!
Fantastic alternative to cable. 59 channels for 35 bucks? Who can beat that? I realize the app still needs some refinement but I’m happy with the way it works now and can’t wait for to get better. As it stands right now it is already better than cable apps or cable boxes. Thanks YouTube.
Giving it a second chance
I originally cancelled after the free trial because of lack of device support (Roku). and limited channel selection. Decided to try again, now that TBS and TNT are available. I had fios for years and other than the price was happy. I’ve been using sling for the last year and other than excessive buffering and a limited (although fairly sufficient) channel line up, i was satisfied. But for 5 dollars more, I’m hoping to have a more stable service and an expanded channel line up. So far I am pleased but there are some issues I hope will be addressed. FYI, I watch mostly on my Roku and a Roku TV, and on my ipad when away from home 1. As some others have requested, I NEED a way to select favorite channels, so that I can filter out unwatched networks. I would settle for being able to organize networks by order of personal preference. I dont watch sports, and its frustrating having to scroll through countless sports networks to get to my watched networks. On that note, I wish there was a slim package w/out sports... 2. As others have requested, I wish there was way to record new episodes only. Honestly, it just makes it more difficult to find the episode Im looking for, especially for shows in syndication. I dont need an unlimited dvr... 100-200 hrs would be sufficient. And, I would rather shows be kept indefinitely. 9 months is ok, but until deleted, would be better. 3. The auto play is extremely frustrating. I’m trying to catch up on newer episodes of the Big Bang Theory, but after watching a single episode it keeps switching to other shows... we should be able to turn it off or be able to set it up to autoplay by series, by favorites, or by suggestion for those adventurous enough to allow youtube to choose for them! 4. There doesnt seem to be a way to start watching where you left off. or it just isnt working properly. Again this seems to be a Roku issue. A choice to “Resume” or “Start over” would be helpful. 5. I really would like a way to utilize ipads multi tasking, so that youtube tv can be minimized when i need to use other apps. 6. Last suggestion, for both Roku and ios App, it would be helpful to be able to get episode info without starting playback. When I’m trying to figure out what i already watched a concise synopsis would be helpful under thumbnail. Thanks for reading!
Cut the cable!
Before cutting the cable, I spent a couple of months trying different live tv streaming apps like Hulu, Sling TV, Amazon Prime, and YouTube TV and with all the trials, YouTube TV in my honest opinion was a clutch decision. Not only for it’s affordable subscription rate, but it’s super easy interface. Literally 3 buttons Library, Home and Live, compared to the runner up Hulu, which sadly, I was extremely disappointed how difficult it was to navigate to live tv streaming in comparison to YTTV. In today’s fast paced, on demand, instant gratification living, ease of use is necessary and YouTube TV does that. They really put thought and care into the overall experience and to me that’s speaks volumes above slick marketing and interfaces with bloat and colorful linear gradients. I am a product designer by trade and I value usability, esp affordable usability. You would be foolish to pass this app up for it’s competitors.
Best live streaming app for me.
I’ve tried sling, direct tv, and Hulu and now YouTube tv. It is by far the best one for me because the local live tv. The menu navigation, live tv preview, and rewind/pause/forward are all awesome. Steam quality has been perfect. The best part is the unlimited cloud DVR!! It could also use more customization in the DVR menu to let you choose how you see your recorded shows (date, show, channel, etc). As for channels I like the options but I would like to see more packages. I would like to be able to pick the channels I want to watch and only pay for them. Please add Comedy Central and mtv
Loving it
I don’t miss cable or satellite tv,, Unlimited dvr, I can record every channel at the same time,,,, 5 stars.
Love It so far.
Clarity is amazing.
Good but room for improvement!
Good concept and great channels but interface could be a bit easier to use. Also the hoops for iOS people to pay more is ridiculous!
best tv service
plz add background playback for red subscribers
Made it so easy to cut the cord.
Best priced and video quality is excellent. + they keep adding channels so not really any down side other then the fact they don’t have the CW, but there’s an app for that.
