This is a great idea it needs more channels to watch and unlimited on demand movies and tv shows. This YouTube and this service doesn’t feel like YouTube.
YouTube TV App Reviews
Not available
I guess despite being 2018 internet streaming services are still somehow limited state-to-state. Unfortunately this one isn’t available in my state even though virtually all other alternatives are. Come on, Google, you are better than that.
Good alternative to Cable TV
We don’t watch much tv, to for the price and what’s offered— it works for us! I love being able to log in at work or on a tablet while out and about!!! I would give 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if they had Hallmark channel! ?
It works!
So far, absolutely flawless! I use it on Apple TV and have had zero problems. It works the way you expect it to, with simple controls, a nice program schedule, and a cloud DVR.
Cut the cord
Glad to find a service I like where I can cut the cord and be rid of cable. Love the interface and cloud dvr. Only gripe is that there aren’t quite enough channels yet- but I foresee that improving with time.
Good but could use some improvements
A few improvements I would make is being able to hide channels that you don’t watch (such as Spanish channels) and the service is lacking some variety’s of channels ( such as cooking channels) and Nickelodeon would be nice for the kids also single sign in on Apple devices with other single channel services but over all it is a great alternative to cable (which is overpriced)
Please dont pass this up
I am making a review and i want to say that it isn’t available in all states apparently i live in louisiana and when i go on the app and try to get started it wont let me because it keep saying”not available in your area

3/18/2018 Live programs — new feature: Love being able to choose “From Live“ OR “From Start“ — if the Live program is in my Record library. Auto Play: At the end of Recorded or On Demand show: Another episode, show, or movie starts playing automatically. I. 2 issues: A. The quality setting automatically changes/resets. Since our LTE speed is fast, we start burning through data unnecessarily. Note: Going to turn off LTE and use 3G only. B. The program that starts playing: 1. Next episode in series — if we’re watching a series. a) Quality setting issue. b) We don’t always want to watch another episode right now. 2. A new show or movie. a) Quality setting issue. b) We usually don’t want to watch that show or movie right now. II. Wishes: A. Still wishing for a per user profile max Quality setting. (i.e. like Netflix) B. Also wishing for a per user profile Auto Play setting (on/off). (i.e. like Netflix) — 2/4/2018: On Demand movies abruptly end approximately 10 minutes before the end of the movie and start over from the beginning. UPDATE: This may have been fixed?...But with new issue (auto play) described above. — November 2017: I. Quality Setting: A. Wish there was an overall quality setting &/or per user profile quality setting. (i.e. like Netflix) 1. We turn down the quality setting to use less of our metered data. 2. Can only change quality setting (program by program) when using wifi or cellular (cellular didn’t work, but seems to have been recently fixed). 3. Unable to change quality setting when casting to chromecast, so can’t use chromecast. 4. When watching On Demand programs, the quality setting automatically changes/resets when commercials come on and for each commercial (i.e. 2 back-to-back commercials). a) Update: This seems to have been recently fixed. II. On Demand Playback: A. Video playback issues when returning to program from commercials. 1. Video/Audio playback freezes or video playback stops (black screen) while audio playback continues. a) Update: This seems to have been recently fixed. III. Channels: A. Wish the following channels were available: History, A&E, TBS, TNT 1. Update: TBS & TNT were recently added. Still wishing for History Channel & A&E. IV. DVR: A. Would like option to record only new episodes. B. Would like to be able to sort by date (most recent first). V. Closed Captioning: A. Closed Captioning doesn’t pass through to TV/Monitor when using Lightning-to-HDMI adapter. Overall we like it. — Original review: November 2017
Pretty good
The volume icon pops up every time I exit the app.
Bait and Switch
I signed up for Apple TV before the rate increased from $34.99/month to $39.99/month on the the 13th March. I then received a statement of my account informing me the rate of service would be $39.99. I sent an email regarding the date of my subscription which fell before the 13th of March to iTunes and Apple support and have not yet had any resolution!! I have contacted iTunes, Monika is the only customer support agent that has followed up on my issue.

I love the app it is wonderful
I want my money back
I want this app off my phone and I want my money back for the month
Needs work. So much work
Really wish Step Brothers would stop playing after a kids show. Also wish that shows I haven’t recorded wouldn’t autoplay. Is this paid placement or something. There is a pathetic shortage of options to customize like autoplay or blocking a show.
Getting better
More channels have been added since I last tried and canceled the service so thats nice. I used Playstation Vue after I canceled and it was pretty good but YouTube TV is $5 cheaper so with the new channels added, Ive canceled Vue and gone back to YouTube TV. Having Vue made me realize that the YouTube TV app either lacks HDR support or is just dull looking. First world problems sure but the Vue always looked good and the UI was crisp. YouTube TV channels also have bad quality whenever you switch from one to another, probably because its buffering but it stays blurry for a bit. At least long enough to notice something doesnt look right. Vue didnt do that so I have to get used to I guess but hopefully its something that can get fixed soon. Rarely, a channel will stop for a couple of seconds to load and continue playing but most of these issues Im sure will be fixed in future updates. Also, is there a reason you cant favorite channels??? You can favorite shows but not channels. If I want to go to a channel, I usually have to scroll through the live TV section to get to it. It would also be nice if the app could remember where u left off. The app Im using is the one for LG tv running webOS. 5 stars once the issues have been fixed. I like the movies and dvr features so thats positive.
Love the service but the UX gets a 2-Star
I use this on my Roku. Overall it’s a great service and provides everything I need BUT there are a few features I hope are on the roadmap: 1) Last Channel Viewed Switching 2) Paging through the TV guide 3) Easy ability to exit the guide and return to current program 4) program information... maybe include from IMDb 5) search further than 7 hours

I used Playstation Vue after I canceled and it was pretty good but YouTube TV is $5 cheaper so with the new channels added, Ive canceled Vue and gone back to YouTube TV. Having Vue made me realize that the YouTube TV app quality lacks HDR support. The app looks really dull if you have a 4k HDR OLED TV. First world problems sure but the Vue always looked good. YouTube TV channels also have bad quality whenever you switch from one to another, probably because its buffering but it looks bad. Vue didnt do that so its something I have to get used to I guess but hopefully its something that can get fixed soon. No customer service, overcharged every month
I generally like the service, but there is no way to contact YouTube live without giving them a 1 star review. I’ve been overcharged by $5 every month since January & they seem to prefer it this way. No response via email, and no “customer service” option in the app itself. I want a refund for the overcharged amount and fix the billing then I’ll give you 5 stars again.
Not available everywhere
I live in a good sized city just south of a major city and they say its not available in my area. Third time Ive checked in a years time. Youre losing out on customers YouTube.
Excellent service but just needs one additional feature
I am very impressed with YouTube TV service. One feature that would improve the experience is to enhance the recording functionality. Currently when you add a show to record, all episodes of that show are recorded and your recording library gets cluttered with a bunch of stuff that you’ve already seen. Please add the ability to manage recording settings by adding a “new episodes only” option. Other than that, a wishlist feature for Apple TV viewing would be to add a 30 second skip action. Currently if you tap the right side of the Apple TV remote trackpad area, it skips forward 10 seconds and tap the left side to go back 10. It would be nice if you can double tap either side to skip forward or backward in 30 second increments. That would make it easier to bypass commercials if you need to.
