If you use this app, you can only use this app, because you tube apps don’t seem to support picture in picture for some insane reason.

2/4/2018: On Demand movies abruptly end approximately 10 minutes before the end of the movie and start over from the beginning. I. Quality Setting: A. Wish there was an overall quality setting &/or per user profile quality setting. (i.e. like Netflix) 1. We turn down the quality setting to use less of our metered data. 2. Can only change quality setting (program by program) when using wifi or cellular (cellular didn’t work, but seems to have been recently fixed). 3. Unable to change quality setting when casting to chromecast, so can’t use chromecast. 4. When watching On Demand programs, the quality setting automatically changes/resets when commercials come on and for each commercial (i.e. 2 back-to-back commercials). II. On Demand Playback: A. Video playback issues when returning to program from commercials. 1. Video/Audio playback freezes or video playback stops (black screen) while audio playback continues. a) Update: This seems to have been recently fixed. III. Channels: A. Wish the following channels were available: History, A&E, TBS, TNT IV. DVR: A. Would like option to record only new episodes. B. Would like to be able to sort by date (most recent first). V. Closed Captioning: A. Closed Captioning doesn’t pass through to TV/Monitor when using Lightning-to-HDMI adapter. Overall we like it. — Original review: November 2017

I’m really impressed with YouTube TV. The quality is awesome and the recommendations are spot on. Unlimited DVR is incredible even if it only keeps the shows for nine months.

Overall, my family enjoys this app. We get a better picture casting local stations than we do using our digital antenna, and we like having a library of our favorite shows. However, the functionality and access need to improve for this service to truly distinguish itself. The Chromecast and our phones (iPhone 7s) often “lose” each other and we can’t pause or otherwise control what is streaming. The app in general is cranky and often freezes or quits. Also, major stations (including the CW) cannot be streamed/recorded live in my market (a metro area of two million people). It’s frankly not fair that other areas get more stations/service for the price. This would be a five-star app with some bug fixes and better channel availability.

We absolutely loveeeee this feature. We never lose connectivity, and are no longer getting Raped by Comcast. I LOVE YOUTUBETV and would recommend it to anyone!! If you haven’t already jumped on this wagon, i sure hope you do soon. You’re paying too much money any other way. We are saving now probably $$90-100!!!!!! Amazing!!!

It’s about time someone did this. Thank you, Google, for saving us from dish and cable tv providers!

I like the channel selection and the live guide. Live stream quality seems good - better than Hulu. BUT, the family sharing is a joke! My family of 3 SHARES a couple Apple TVs and an iPad. A common situation. To set up the family share we all need Gmail accounts. So two of us need a new email. Hassle. THEN, realize there’s no simple toggling of accounts in the mobile or TV apps. You have log totally out, then log in as new user, and in the case of the TV app, THAT requires a mobile browser to enter an access code displayed on the TV screen to complete the login. MANY steps involving TWO devices to switch users! Really clunky. With HULU, all user profiles are displayed when the app opens and you can just choose one. Netflix too. This app is unusable garbage for any family sharing devices. A dramatic improvement to family share profile toggling is an absolute MUST for families like mine. EPIC FAIL, Google.

Customer service is non existent. Constantly have casting issues. Just sits and spins all the time. HTTP 500 error all the time, playback errors almost weekly, no HGTV or Food Network. Look elsewhere!

Unfortunately on appletv 4tg gen does not work. Takes to page to enter code never starts. Directtv Now and Slung tv are a better option.

There is no favorite channel list and you can’t reorder them. On the Apple TV when you scroll over the dot to go back and forth, you do not have to click or anything. This means if you accidentally get to that part of the UI you will rewind your show on accident. Also there needs to be standard fast forward and rewinding buttons or at least 10/15 sec skip buttons.

It plays the same advertisement every 2 minutes during the show

So what are u missing in sports Golf PGA Championship All USGA Tournaments (US Men Open US Women Open US Men/Women Amateur ) NBA Weekly games Playoffs NASCAR NCAA Basketball Weekly games NCAA Tournament Baseball Weekly games World Series World Baseball Championship You either increase the monthly fee to include these networks or have an “add on” to include these networks that the subscriber can pay extra. Sling didn’t have the CBS affiliate for the San Francisco Bay Area but carried the Turner networks. I switched to u tube assuming the package had the Turner networks. They don’t so I’m switching back to Sling

I love the concept and the local channels with the ability to record, but there is no way for me to continue watching an episode where I left off and it drives me crazy!! They also desperately need a better way to watch it on a TV... a roku app seems like a no brainer!

Things to improve: - fast forward 15 seconds button takes about 10 seconds to load - lame, sb able to hit it four times to ff thru 60 seconds of commercials instantly - time to load from phone to tv when changing channels is incredibly slow and painful

The only thang I have a problem with is that you have to pay $40.00 on top of YouTube red watch already give you unlimited YouTube and google play music why do we have to pay and extra fee why not just Include it in the $14 a month fee we pay for YouTube Red!?

Works most of the time. Sometimes freezes after commercials. Stop casting and recast new commercials start again never progresses to rest of show. Sometimes playback randomly pauses have to go into app and press play. Video will stop casting. Love concept just wish fix bugs w app and communication with chrome cast.

Good but not ready for primetime. Good UI, simple to program DVR, general choice of channel especially local channels are very good, this option goes a long way in cutting dependence on cable Bad-DVR records all available shows of a program you select including old versions shown on rerun channels. Channel lineup is incomplete but hopefully will expand over time. Biggest complaint is the software is buggy. When casting a program from your library using an Apple devise you lose control over stop, fast forward, or rewind after a few attempts. Have contacted support with no known solution. ****Update - It’s now been 4 months since I began using YouTube TV. There have been many updates and now the addition of Riki and Apple TV but there still has been no fix for the ongoing loss of stop and fast forward as I had reported earlier. It appears that the focus is on getting new subscribers without addressing ongoing problems. Beware before you subscribe and read the reviews carefully.

Apple TV app is nice, but it doesnt let me use the other users in my account.

Good app overall.

Works great on my phone, would be nice if I could get it on my TV...
