YouTube TV App Reviews

Got rid of all other streaming app!!!
I love this app! I use a desktop-TV set up, plus my iPad, laptop and cell... works on all! The only thing I don’t like is that I’m forced to use google chrome. I prefer Firefox. I was also charge three times in one month but was reimbursed without issues though, so I won’t hold that against you! Luckily, I caught it before it over-drafted my account. I was able to cancel Netflix and Hulu. This app plays all the same movies and most shows... I search for movies and then record them for later! I love the concept and look forward to more channels but for now, it’s the cheapest and offers a many live-stream channels! I love it!!!
Please add CNN
This platform needs CNN. If it had that it would be 5 Stars.
$39.99/mo
It doesn’t tell you until you download the app. But yeah you gotta pay for it. Wasted my time
Cast Icon Disappears
The cast icon constantly disappears, rendering this app useless for us. When I first tried YouTube TV I was really excited at the ease of use, especially how simple it was to cast onto my two smart televisions. It wasn’t long before after finishing a program, I’d see the cast icon was missing. I’d have to delete and reinstall the app to get it to show up again. Then, even that didn’t work. This issue happens on more than one phone and we’ve ensured all updates have been applied and that all devices are on the same network. If I see something published stating this issue has been resolved, I’d consider the app again. Until then, its simply useless - its a car with no wheels.
Works Great With Roku!
Great selection of channels, awesome intuitive interface. I’ve tried Hulu TV and didn’t like it because it had a very confusing guide and had a lot of problems buffering, and a lot of errors. Ive also tried Sling and also found it had a confusing interface and its channels were meh. Youtube TV has the best of Hulu and the Sling Apps. It has a great guide which is very similar to regular cable TV and an easy to flip through menu. The only complaint is the quality of the picture doesnt seem that great. It doesnt appear to be HD, but Ive only tried one channel and it was an older show so I cant speak overall.
IT DOESN’T LET ME SIGN UP
It keeps saying i live in the Los Angeles area and that i will have to wait until i get home. I dont even live in LA and im already home. That’s what’s not letting me sign up! Ive tried this three times and im tired of reading the same message.
Extremely reliable and decent interface
Youtube TV has really impressed me with its stability and reliability. I was a little concerned about relying on YouTube TV for the Super Bowl this year but the experience was flawless. I had the program on all day and didn’t experience a single glitch while casting to my TV. The app interface is much better than the traditional cable program guide but it could use a few tweaks here and there. Pausing doesn’t seem to work while casting for example. And it is sometimes easy to confuse whether you’re going to start playing a program or drill down to more details about it. The “DVR” could use a revamp. It’s not easy to tell what shows have new episodes to watch versus recent recordings of reruns. Overall a great replacement for traditional cable TV especially if you’re a Disney, sports, or news fan.
Needs Background playing and a Guide
It would be nice to have a program guide view. It’s just a user interface thing, but I’m having a hard time seeing future shows on certain networks throughout the day. Also, background playing would be nice on iPhone so you can check email, text, and still listen to the show.
Add!
Can y’all please add Monroe, Louisiana
Super Bowl
Advertised on Super Bowl. Can’t even watch it on the app.
Not Available Area
You need to turn on location then find if it’s available u area. Wasted my time.
From a previous user...
I jumped onboard YouTube TV when it first came out and liked the streaming reliability (over sling which I had before) and DVR capabilities (retrospectively - vs Hulus) but ended up switching to Hulu Live TV because it was a few dollars cheaper, allowed me to consolidate TV streaming and Hulu original etc into one app/platform, and had an Xbox one app. Ive since gotten annoyed with Hulu live TV with the stream reliability issues, trying DirecTV now which also has stream reliability issues, and am looking to switch back but noticed that YouTube TV doesnt have CNN (forgot about that, or thats new since?) which is a bit of a dealbreaker for me. YouTube TV - please add cnn!!
Love it
There is little to nothing to complain about and if you do complain then you’re on a high horse
Impressed so far
I know it is still a work in progress, but it is better than cable tv prices
Terrible parental controls
App works well on our Apple TV but parental control options are terrible. The filter option does not require a password or PIN to change and viewing history can be deleted. The filter allows for only two options: (i) allow PG and below content only or (ii) allow all content including R and adult. This does not work for a household with teens. Even the cable companies have figured this out and allow TV14 and PG13 filters. Please get this fixed.
???
Doesn’t work in my area? Looks like garbage anyways.
DVR Fast Forwarding Unacceptable
Experimenting with new service to see that I can only fast forward DVR content in 15 second increments, I’m not able to see the recorded programming while fast-forwarding. Considering cutting the cable cord (and TiVo,) missing this critical feature is a deal killer.
Finally
It’s finally on Apple TV !!! Works and looks get
Not worth the $ my friends
My biggest and LOUDEST complaint is that any show (new or rerun) added into the Library plays completely with commercials until the last 7-10 minutes then resets to the beginning and does not allow you to watch the last crucial minutes of any good show. It’s $40 a month, please provide what you have promised.
