YouTube TV App Reviews

Not many channels for $40? No thanks!

Compared to their competition, this is a joke. Direct TV NOW offers many channels for $35, so why would I pay $40 for less? No thanks.

Cast icon goes away every time you close out.

Makes you uninstall and reinstall app in order to use next time. Such a hassle. Once this bug is fixed it should be good.

So close

This is painfully close to being THE streaming service. The user interface is solid! Nothing else comes close. I’m not dinging YouTube on the number of channels they have. I trust that they are working on it. YouTube TV starts out a lot quicker than other streaming apps. Casting is great to start with but immediately falters when trying to rewind, pause, etc,. The iPad version should allow you to minimize the picture like other streaming apps do.

Great app!

For a long time, I have been looking for a gracious way to join the “cord-cutting gang”, with this app and Chromecast Ultra I am able to do so today. The channel line-up might need to improve a bit and that is why a 4* not a 5*. The app is pretty easy to use and layout is great. Love it so far. Would be great to see more channels like CNN, TNT, TBS, NFL Networks, or even Chinese-language channel.

Nice

Great app, just wish there were more channels but all in time I guess but it works great 10x’s better then the xfinity app “??” an love the dive feature ??

Overall great service with some small glitches

The video quality is great. We cast it to a tv via google chrome 95% of the time. Love the easy recording features and the unlimited library. Easy searching as well. Good channel selection at a reasonable price. No issues logging into other video apps as well. App does disconnect occasionally or may hang up in an ad. That is the reason for the dropped star. Normally a restart fixes the issue.

Not too excited about the GUI...

it’s clunky . I do a lot of clicks to get My selected channel to cast correctly . Ive has critical last moments of a live game freeze up and since games won’t show on my mobile device , I’m just stuck . Plus it won’t cast to my roku devices .

Screen share wish I could give it 5

I love the app while I agree that it has way more sport channels that I would like it’s not a big deal to me because other channels provide what I like. Although I do wish it had some history documentaries and such. The reason I am giving it a low score is due to the fact that I have I have to delete and re download the app everytime I want to stream/cast on my tv. I feel it’s an inconvenience yet I do it because I like the service, yet if it’s not fixed I would be forced to cancel my subscription and wait patiently for my shows on Netflix ?

Good and bad

So far, I’m impressed with my in-home service. Away from my home on my iPhone X is not the same experience. Streaming doesn’t work at all. Wi-Fi speed at this restaurant is sufficient for streaming, but app is not working properly. I’m giving it two and a half stars right now. I’m on the one week free trial.

Nice app but.....

This YouTube TV app is great for airing local stations in pretty much real-time! I just dropped my cable due to finances but my antenna doesn’t pick up ABC, NBC and other channels! The only downside to this app is the monthly charge! $39.99 is just way too high for me!

Hoodwinked

I use YouTube everyday without fail. I downloaded “this” app on the premise of YouTube stepping into the live streaming/tv genre. When first downloaded, the YouTube live TV app wasn’t available in my area. The app stood dormant for awhile until one day it suddenly worked. I put in my zip code and BAM! I’m watching local news! It was great. A few days later, my wife asks what the $42.79 charge on iTunes was for. Clueless I start to dig into it and realize that YouTube tv app is a paid subscription. Stupid me for not seeing the subscription fee clearly listed anywhere. Silly me for thinking $39.99 is outrageous for a subscription as well. Promptly canceled, deleted and refunded. No thank you. I’ll stick to paying ridiculous prices for cable tv. Smh

Great replacement for cable

App works great, has all the channels I want.

YouTube TV iOS/Xbox One

From what I can see, YouTube TV has far superior compression and overall streaming capabilities than anything other Online Cable Provider. Only complaint, they need to pickup tnt and tbs into their channel lineup. That would definitely push them over the top. Get more high profile channels and it would definitely be a 5 Star.

NOT FREE! Not any of it!

The app offered a 7 day trial and then was going to charge me $39.99 a month! I can get regular cable/satellite for that!

I have to uninstall and reinstall every time

I want to cast to my Roku, and the cast button disappears every time I leave the app. I have to uninstall every time I want to sit down to watch tv. So annoying.

Best Cord Cutter

I’ve “cut the cord” with a few different services. I’ve tried SlingTV and PlayStation Vue prior to YouTube TV. This is, by far, the best service. PS Vue is too buggy, and Sling was limited (granted it was early). YouTube TV has all the channels I need, including locals, and is useable anywhere. Love it!

Needs Apple TV App

YouTube TV will rule the cable-cutting world if they can make it easier for Appleheads to use their product. I tried it out and canceled, because the others in the house found it annoying to tie up an iPhone or iPad to AirPlay the shows. If an App can be developed for the Apple TV, and if they can collaborate with Apple on that project, things would be beautiful. I’m going to keep my eyes open for this, but, until then, I’ll pass on the YouTube TV.

Mirroring doesn’t work

This concept is AMAZING, and I can’t wait for the developers to resolve the few issues keeping YouTube tv from being perfectly awesome. My biggest (and pretty much *only*) problem with this app is that any time we tried to mirror even a recorded program on Apple TV or smart blu Ray player it would buffer, skip and eventually just disconnect. That’s a huge problem. I don’t want to HAVE to watch via my phone. The problem was not our WiFi either because I checked, this happened each and every time we tried to AirPlay/mirror. We tried to sit down multiple times and use AirPlay from phone to Apple TV to watch holiday specials with our kids this past month, and not once did it work. I didn’t even bother trying to mirror live tv- my husband attempted with a football game and it wouldn’t ever even load or come on, just a blank screen until he finally gave up. Fix this problem and I’ll gladly pay $40 a month, and hopefully you’ll put the awful cable companies out of business!!

G

I will like to have it but is too expensive

Update

You all should come out with more channels like bet and tv one. YouTube should add more do we would have more to choose from.So fat so good
