Superb
YouTubeTV is the best streaming TV service in my opinion (I’ve tried DirectvNow, SlingTV, PSVue and Hulu Live)
Pros:
- Reliable Streaming (above all others)
- Great picture quality (Sling by comparison has audio lag and jitters on my Roku and Android TV, you can really tell Google made full use of their mature traditional YouTube streaming platform)
- Intuitive interface (Above all others, Directvnow is pretty good though)
- Intuitive DVR with unlimited storage (Best I’ve used)
- No Location Lock (PSVue and Hulu Live location lock which for me is a deal breaker)
- Three allowable streams from any location (compared to two with DirecTVNow)
- Six separate google accounts allowed per subscription (league of their own here for sure)
- All of my local channels except PBS (Hulu Live and DirecTVNow are the same in this respect, Sling has no locals for my area)
- Local channels change depending on where you are as you travel (My siblings get their local channels in the cities they live in and I can pick up local channels where I travel)
Cons:
No HGTV, Food Network or History Channel ( for the money you save over traditional cable I would recommend you get a Sling Orange subscription just for these at $20 a month)
No PBS (no other service has this either, I think you can pay your local affiliate directly for access to live streaming with their app)
Overall, YouTubeTV is by far the best streaming service. Biggest differentiators for me are the unsurpassed reliability, streaming video quality and traveling with local channels. Having been caught in a severe thunderstorm while traveling without access to local news YouTubeTV will be a big help next time since it will be like having an antenna TV in my car.
