Best option but still needs some features
I’ve enjoyed using YouTube TV on my iPhone 7+ quite a bit. I often turn on a movie or show just to listen to the audio while driving to work rather than listening to the radio. The unlimited DVR is what sets this service apart from all others. It allows me to record most everything on television that I’m interested in and watch at any point in time. With unlimited DVR you essentially have an archive of every broadcasted show available forever. YouTube TV is a long-term game changer!
There are 2 major issues I’ve discovered that need updating before taking this service to a “must have” and that is casting functionality and programming changes.
I’ve noticed many times that when I attempt to pause a show while casting to the chrome cast that it doesn’t pause. Can be very frustrating when you need to take care of something in the middle of watching a program. I’m excited for the launch of dedicated apps on Roku and Apple TV as I hope the experience is streamlined. Casting my eventually die but I hope these issues don’t translate to the apps.
Also, there are many times that a program/sporting event with go into overtime or run long. Because the guide doesn’t change dynamically I’ve often went to watch a show that is not there because it is airing a run-over program. And because the next program afterward wasn’t set to my favorites the original show I intended to record wasn’t there.
Lastly, I would love to see more networks added to this service to make this a 100% must have.
